Asphalt shingles are oil + stone, glued.
A standard asphalt shingle is a fiberglass mat soaked in oxidized petroleum asphalt, with ceramic granules pressed into the surface. The oil holds the granules in place and gives the shingle its flexibility.

UV bakes the oil out.
Over 8 to 12 years, ultraviolet light, heat cycles, and rain pull the oil out of the asphalt. The shingle loses pliability, edges curl, and granules start shedding into the gutter.

Once granules go, the clock starts.
Granules are the shingle's sunscreen. When they wash off, the asphalt underneath gets hit directly and ages 5x faster. A roof with heavy granule loss has roughly 3 to 5 years left.

Put the oil back, slow the clock.
House Dressing is a soybean-oil rejuvenator built on SESO, semi-epoxidized soybean oil. It is engineered to penetrate the asphalt binder inside the shingle, help restore flexibility, help re-anchor remaining granules, and re-activate the adhesive seal strip so shingles stay sealed. Against untreated control shingles, independent third-party testing measured granule adhesion improved by 50 percent.

Engineered soy, not just oil.
Most rejuvenators on the market lean on simple oil softening: soy methyl ester, biodiesel-like chemistry, or unengineered vegetable oil blends. House Dressing does not. The soybean oil is semi-epoxidized so it can chemically interact with oxidized asphalt binder rather than merely soften or darken it. That chemistry came out of the original Iowa State University engineering team and is protected by an issued U.S. patent and its wider patent family.
Asphalt drinks. Granules stay. Clock resets.
House Dressing is sprayed onto the roof in a fine mist. Within minutes the oil starts soaking into the porous asphalt surface. Hours later, the matrix has rebuilt some of the flexibility that UV cooked out. The remaining granules sit in a slightly softened asphalt bed and bond back down.
The product doesn't sit on top of your roof. There's no film, no coating, no shine, no peel. Three days after a treatment a homeowner can't tell visually that anything was applied. The chemistry happened where it had to: inside the shingle.
